Friday Night Soup Kitchen

The mission of Friday Soup is to feed our hungry neighbors with dignity and respect, at a time when public funding is eroding and one in five New Yorkers needs help with basics like food.

  • Every Friday at noon, we serve 250 guests in just over one hour – nearly 20,000 meals every year. We’ve been doing this for over forty years, since its founding in 1977.
  • While many guests are minimally employed, some are homeless or suffer from medical, mental or addiction issues. All are welcome to our tables.
  • Our volunteers come from the community, from local businesses and especially students from the local private schools. All benefit from the experience by learning more about those in need.
  • We are funded by donations from foundations, individuals and private sector businesses.
