About Heart & Soul Charitable Fund
New York is one of the most prosperous cities in the nation, and also one of its most unequal. Homelessness continues to grow, poverty persists, many are unemployed, lack a living wage or are in need of basic services. Heart and Soul aims to help.
Heart & Soul is a bridge between donors, volunteers and community programs that empower youth, feed the hungry and support arts education. We serve communities in need in New York City.
The Heart & Soul Charitable Fund is an efficient platform to fund community-based programs supporting New Yorkers. Programs we support serve New York’s marginalized populations through the investment of time, money and compassion. Together with our partners and supporters we find creative and inspiring ways to sustain the critical work they do. We support programs that:
- Empower youth
- Feed the hungry
- Support arts education
Heart & Soul was founded in 1988 to raise funds for two long-running meal programs, which together serve 30,000 meals annually at All Souls Church. Now over 35 years later, we remain the major funding source for these programs and also support various other food rescue, youth empowerment and community-based programs in New York City. Read more about them in the programs section.
Your dollars are transmitted directly to service programs in New York City, many of which, themselves, utilize the commitment of volunteers. For example, the two feeding programs we support, rely on volunteers to cook and serve nearly 600 hot meals weekly.
You can make a donation to the Heart and Soul Charitable Fund confident that your dollars will make the maximum difference possible for our neighbors in need.
