The Inaugural Heart & Soul Charitable Fund Art Show and Sale was a Smashing Success - Kudos to Pamela HealeyFriday, October 12, 2007
The Heart & Soul Inaugural Invitational Art Sale held December 8th and 9th, 2007 exhibited the works of 32 artists in the spacious Friendship Hall of the Unitarian Church of All Souls. The Opening Reception drew approximately 150 guests and a significant number of the exhibiting artists.
The sale grossed $24,900 through the sale of 15 works by eleven different artists. The raffle of the painting "Waiting" by the founder of the event and Chair of the Art Committee, Pamela Healey, raised $2,200 that, with the generous donations of sponsors, covered all expenses of the show. Sponsors included Alan Jones and Ashley Garrett; Greg Slamowitz and Kirsten Hilleman; Tom and Sandy Reece; John Reidy; and, an anonymous donor.
In addition, Pamela Healey also built the screens that held the hung works that surrounded the perimeter of the hall. Lotus Do Brooks and Mitchel Gray completed the Arti Committee that mounted the show with the assistance of 31 volunteers and the gracious cooperation of the staff of All Souls.
Emily Blake, an exhibiting artist observed that "the large, open, well-lighted room, and the various tables around the room with art that one could get close to and walk around, was a definite plus."
The success of show for the artists, the aesthetic pleasure for the guests and, very importantly, increasing the capacity of the Heart & Souls Charitable Fund, Inc. to expand its support of non-profit groups in New York City, all have contributed to the decision of the Board of Trustees to enthusiastically announce that the:
Second Annual Heart & Souls Art Sale will be held in December 2008!
