MARY ROBINSON, FORMER PRESIDENT OF IRELAND, RECEIVES THE FORREST CHURCH AWARD AT FEBRUARY 2010 HEART & SOUL GALA
The Heart & Soul Charitable Fund presented the Forrest Church Award to Mary Robinson at its annual gala on February 9, 2010. The charity event took place at the Down Town Association at 60 Pine Street in Manhattan.
Mary Robinson, a dynamic world leader who has spent her career advancing human rights, inclusion and ethical globalization, is a 2009 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She is the former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and served as the President of Ireland from 1990 to 1997.
The Forrest Church Award is given annually by the Heart & Soul Fund to a person who epitomizes Forrest's call to help the least fortunate among us. Forrest Church and the Heart & Soul Fund presented the inaugural 2009 award to former President Bill Clinton. Nancy Northup, President of the Center for Reproductive Rights, and Nina Church Adams, daughter of Forrest Church, presented the award to Ms. Robinson.
Auction Co-Chairs, Mark Leeds and Marilyn Collins were delighted with the successful event. More than $320,000 was raised for the Fund through the generosity of two hundred guests. Please visit our website, www.heartandsoulfund.org to learn about the work of the Heart & Soul Fund.
